New song. I actually know where i had the first idea for this song. It was in Cologne and i had a long walk from my hotel to a meeting at a local bicycle company. I just hummed the melody into my phone and then worked on the lyric on that walk. Funny, why do i remember that so vividly?
I took a walk on a crowded day, down the line between blue and grey…
Bob T and CBATFOW - I let her down
….and i let her down
Love is the reason and the love is the answer. But do we always do the right thing? Do we let her down? I would be a fool to say “no”, because it cannot be true. The idea of the song is that when we let someone down, someone we love, can we fix it before the love dies? Sometimes we react in scorn and are doomed to regret what we do. But sometimes we stand above our personal ego and realize that love is one of the reasons for life.
I took a walk on a crowded day
Down a line between blue and grey
And I let her down
She was the river where the rapids roar
The morning sky where the eagles soar
And I let her down
I let her down
It’s a story of a love betrayed, a serenade, a masquerade
I let her down
Trying hard to avoid her eyes, telling lies, with no replies
I was moving on the road away
Down the hall and into the fray
And I let her down
You hurt someone and then you hurt yourself
The blames on me and no one else
And I let her down
I let her down
It’s a story of a love betrayed, a serenade, a masquerade
I let her down
In a world of make believe, lovers grieve and sell relief
And I let her down
It’s a story of a love betrayed, a serenade, a masquerade
I let her down
Trying hard to avoid her eyes, telling lies, with no replies
I let her down
In a world of make believe, lovers grieve and sell relief

First demo recorded Jan 2013 at the Planet USED Studio. Produced by Mike Stewart.
This is Henry´s guitar solo on the very first demo version of ‚I Let Her Down‘. This was before Mike Stewart cropped the end of the solo, which led to the sudden transmission to the chorus, which you hear on the final version of this song. The solo was played on a Fender Tele.
